Canada’s Greatest Storytellers

On November 18th, 2018, the Lorenzo Society is excited to present Douglas Gibson reading from his books, Stories About Storytellers: Publishing Alice Munro, Robertson Davies, Alistair MacLeod, Pierre Trudeau, and Others and Across Canada by Story: A Coast-to-Coast Literary Adventure. Douglas Gibson, now retired, influenced the Canadian literary community from 1974 – 2008 as a publisher. He continues to do so as an author, and now as a podcast host! Join Douglas every Thursday as we share episodes of his sixteen-part series, Canada’s Greatest Storytellers, which was originally released this past summer from June 15th to July 1st.

Decade by decade these lively book talks take us from 1867 all the way up to today. This survey by the ‘iconic’ Editor and Publisher, Douglas Gibson, is very informal and deals with Canada’s greatest fiction writers, both English and French. Bursts of music from each decade enliven this look at Canada’s storytellers and their times.” – {Download the series for offline streaming here.}
